CONTEXT/

Following the closure of multiple cinemas across Bristol, the rise in rent that has forced independent game stores to shut down and community groups to disband, the cuts of the arts funding, and the devastating fire at The Forbidden Planet in December 2023, many film lovers, game enthusiasts, creatives, and members of the fandom community have been left without a place to connect and belong.

CINERPG CIC seeks to fill this gap by operating at the intersection of these under-served communities. We wish to offer inclusive and low-cost events centred around film screenings, game sessions and creative workshops, particularly in areas that have been most affected by the loss of cultural activities in Bristol and the South-West area.

ACTIONS/

The company’s activities provide benefits to individuals suffering from social isolation due to one or more of the following factors:

  • Limited access to communal activities
  • Financial barriers
  • Inadequate access to safe and inclusive spaces
  • Mobility restrictions
  • Extended hospital or hospice stays

Our target demographic includes male-presenting, fem-presenting, and non-binary individuals from low-income backgrounds, or low-income families, living in areas with limited access to social and cultural opportunities.

Our priority actions are focused on:

  • Local Community Events
  • Local Education Support
  • Local Hospital and Hospice Events
  • Pro-Bono Mentoring and Consulting
  • Audience Invigoration Events
